Why Women Still Don't Feel Safe

The Dad Project Live

Amy Watson (HASSL) and Naroop Jhooti at The Dad Project Live

About This Event

In August 2024, Amy Watson was harassed on her commute. A man followed her down the platform, sat next to her on the train, and asked her name and where she worked. She stayed calm. She stayed polite. He grabbed her hand as she stood to leave.

No one helped.

She walked into the office that morning furious. Not performing anger. Actually angry.

That fury became HASSL.

HASSL doesn't teach women to protect themselves. It asks something harder: that men understand the role they play. Not the ones grabbing hands on trains. The ones who watched and did nothing. The ones who didn't know what to do. The ones who never realised this was happening at all.

On 20 May, Amy brought that question to Maslow's in Fitzrovia, live with Naroop Jhooti.

It's a conversation men often avoid. That was the point of having it.

Then the room had its say.

If you weren't there this time, the next one is on the events page.

You don't need to be a dad to be here.

Amy Watson

Amy Watson is the founder of HASSL (Harassment Awareness & Safe Space Leaders). It's a social enterprise built on one idea: stop telling women to protect themselves and start fixing the culture that puts them at risk. She started it in October 2024. Since then, HASSL has grown to over 425,000 followers, 200 million views, 700+ ambassadors across 100 countries, and a written submission to a UK Parliament committee on how social platforms profit from misogyny. Her first book, Flipping the Script, is on its way from Wiley. She is not waiting for permission. Amy also joined Naroop on the podcast to talk about male violence, harassment and building HASSL.
